Maxim Healthcare Group divides into two companies

Maxim Healthcare Group has divided the company’s two business units into independently operated companies: Maxim Healthcare Services and Maxim Healthcare Staffing. The company will retire the umbrella Maxim Healthcare Group brand.

Maxim Healthcare Services provides home health, companion and behavioral care services. Meanwhile, Maxim Healthcare Staffing offers health care staffing and workforce solutions.

“Rapid changes in health care are challenging our industry to seek new, better ways to deliver care,” William Butz said in a press release. “Separating our business units into independently operated companies is an important milestone in our company’s growth, allowing each to strengthen with the focus and scale necessary to fuel innovation for our patients, customers and health care professionals.”

Butz will serve as president of Maxim Healthcare Staffing. Previously, Butz served as CEO of Maxim Healthcare Services.

Additionally, Jarrod DePriest, former senior vice president of operations, has been appointed president of Maxim Healthcare Services.

The separation went into effect in early January.

HouseWorks agrees to acquire Greater Boston Home Health Care

HouseWorks announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Greater Boston Home Health Care Inc. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1992 by Edward McGonagle, Greater Boston Home Care provides personal care services.

“I have known and admired Ed and his company for many years. Ed and his team are extremely well respected and have a strong reputation for delivering high-quality personal care services to seniors across Massachusetts,” Michael Trigilio, CEO of HouseWorks, said in a statement. “With Greater Boston being our second Medicaid-focused acquisition in the last three months, we believe this will provide HouseWorks with the capacity to respond to the growing demand for home care across all demographics in Massachusetts.”

Boston-based HouseWorks is one of the nation’s largest independent home care companies. Along with traditional home care services, HouseWorks also helps clients with certain home-modification needs.

The deal will allow HouseWorks to expand its footprint to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and additional areas in the South Shore of Massachusetts.

Edward-Elmhurst Health and Residential Healthcare Group form home health JV

Edward-Elmhurst Health and Residential Healthcare Group – a division of Graham Healthcare Group – have formed a joint venture (JV) to offer home health and hospice care services across the greater Chicago area.

The JV builds on Edward-Elmhurst Health and Residential’s existing partnership. Residential has managed home health and hospice services for Edward-Elmhurst Health for more than a decade.

Under the agreement, Residential will expand its operations to include NorthShore Home Health and Hospice and Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) Home Health.

“Adding the home health and hospice business of NorthShore and NCH to Residential Healthcare Group builds upon our 10-year partnership with Edward-Elmhurst Health and Duly Health, and it provides an extraordinary opportunity to elevate both the continuum of home health and hospice care and the quality of care for our patients,” David Curtis, CEO of Home Health at Residential Healthcare Group, said in a statement.

The JV creates one of the largest home health and hospice offerings in Northern Illinois. It will serve 4.2 million residents.

Legacy Care Partners Inc. completes purchase of Advanced Home Care

Legacy Care Partners Inc. has completed the acquisition of Advanced Home Care, a Michigan-based home care services business.

“In addition to the market penetration, growth, and increased revenues that Advanced provides to Legacy, Advanced has a full range of talent, including registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, certified home health aides, medical social workers and registered [dietitians],” Brian McDonald, president and CEO of Legacy, said in a statement.

Legacy purchases and manages a portfolio of related health care facilities and services, including home care, skilled nursing, adult assisted living, memory care and hospice.

Meanwhile, Advanced Home Care delivers geriatric care, skilled nursing, wound care, home care and more.

Additionally, Legacy entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Caring Connections, a Florida-based home care services provider.

Combined, the acquisitions of Advanced Home Care and Caring Connections will add approximately 150 employees to Legacy’s network.

Colorado VNA agrees to absorb 24/7 AvaRe Home Health’s staff

The Colorado Visiting Nurse Association (Colorado VNA) has agreed to absorb the health staff and patients of 24/7 AvaRe Home Health.

“Colorado VNA has a distinguished community legacy of more than 130 years and this will allow us to grow and develop while expanding our clinical expertise and the breadth and depth of care offered to patients,” Julie Nunley, president at Colorado VNA, said in a statement. “I am excited about the potential in enhancing Colorado VNA, one of the largest home health, hospice, palliative and wellness agencies in the state.”

Colorado VNA offers a range of home-based care services, including palliative care, end-of-life care and home health.

Founded in 2012, 24/7 AvaRe Home Health provides home health and pediatric care to patients in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas.

The move will allow Colorado VNA to offer care across the Denver metro area, Colorado Springs and parts of greater El Paso and Teller counties.
