Former owner of A Caring Hand Home Health Care Services Inc. Janice Holland, pled guilty in September to the fraud and to charges of aggravated identity theft, for which she was sentenced to an additional 24 months in prison. Holland has also been ordered to pay  more than $630,000 in restitution to Virginia’s Medicaid program. 

A Caring Hand Home Health Services was authorized to provide respite care to Medicaid recipients, for which it filed 939 false and fraudulent claims under the state’s Medicaid program, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. The company represented that care had been provided when in fact it hadn’t then falsified documents in an attempt to cover up the fraud. 

Holland’s sentence totals 75 months with restitution to be paid in the amount of $630,339.30, according to the Department of Justice.
